Meet the Owners!

Blair and Ashley Menard

Blair and Ashley Menard have been happily married for 8 years, and raise 2 wonderful boys, Ghazi (14 yrs. old) and Elliot (3 yrs. old), and currently live in Maurice, LA.

Blair, an Abbeville native, graduated from Abbeville High School in 1997, and is a Professional Firefighter (20 years), currently ranked a Captain in the Abbeville Fire Department, and a REALTOR® (14 years) currently an ICON agent with EXP Realty, with awards including ICON status, Platinum Club, and he was previously inducted into the RE/MAX Hall of Fame. He graduated from LSU Fire Academy 2001, and Burk Baker School of Real Estate in 2007.

Ashley, originally from Erath, graduated in 2001 at Erath High School, and is currently a Health Physicist with the Dept. of Environmental Quality (13 years), and the proud owner of "Whisk Away Cakes" (1 year). She graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Biological Sciences at LSU, as well as a Master's Degree in Health Physics at Oregon State University.

La CHAMBRE (the room) wasn't exactly a "planned" thing. The previous owners contacted Blair to sell the building, and that sparked an idea! With no clue what to do with it just yet, Blair and Ashley decided "It's a fantastic old building, let's BUY it!" From there, the planning began! Renovating a 115 year old building is a gruesome task, but the finished product came out even better than they could've imagined! They are both extremely busy with work, family, and LIFE in general, so they decided to create a "self-sufficient" business that pretty much runs on its own... a flexible atmosphere that customers can use for "whatever" while giving them the freedom to use their own vendors for food, alcohol, entertainment, etc. The customers get their own personal door code, then they simply "do their thing" and leave! It's perfect for smaller, more intimate gatherings (bridal/baby showers, birthday parties, meetings, reunions, smaller weddings/receptions... anything under 100 people), and is equipped with all the tables and chairs they'll need, as well as a massive bar, a kitchen, and a commercial Bluetooth sound system, with lots of other little extra features, including public Wi-Fi, table and chair linens, USB charging ports, a wireless microphone system, a photo backdrop frame, a podium, a TV on wheels, etc! Their goal was to keep it simple, but provide the clients with everything they need!

What's the deal with the name, you ask? Well, it's pronounced / làh shàhm / and simply means "the room" in Cajun French! But, don't be ashamed if you mispronounce it, 90% of the people do! It's hilarious at this point, and it somewhat adds to its uniqueness! Most people just call it "the room" rather than trying to say it out loud!

Blair and Ashley consider themselves very blessed, and try to enjoy life to the fullest, while continuing to proudly serve the people of Acadiana with a smile!

They look forward to meeting YOU!!!
